Comedy films at the Paramount!

This Sunday (1/22) kicks off a fantastic selection of comedy films here at the Paramount. Highlighting everyone from Woody Allen to Will Ferrell to Richard Pryor, it’s going to be a fun week. For tickets click here. Here are three can’t miss picks:

1. JO JO DANCER, YOUR LIFE IS CALLING

This is a very rare screening of Richard Pryor’s underseen autobiographical film. Written, directed and starring Pryor it’s a fascinating reworking of the confessional nature of his standup comedy. Pryor should have directed more films!

2. LOVE AND DEATH

My absolute favorite of the “early, funny” Woody Allen films, this is one of the great mixtures of the high brow and low brow that I’ve ever seen. Woody Allen, cinema’s greatest purveyor of both sex jokes and Tolstoy jokes!

3. Step Brothers

A criminally under seen Will Ferrel film, with brilliant turns by John C. Reilly, Adam Scott and Rob Riggle. Easily the equal of ANCHORMAN, it’s one of the purest visions of Ferrell and director Adam McKay’s smart silliness.

See you at the movies!
